Default Teaching at a Saudi university

Hello,

Please let me know what you think about my situation. I am 30, single and have recently completed my PhD. I have taught at university level for about 4 years, but have no "post-doctoral" experience.

I have already received an offer from a private university in KSA for the post of assistant professor, and I will, most probably, receive another offer from a public university in a couple of days. The salary isn't great at all, I guess. The total package offered is 202380 SAR, plus medical insurance and annual round trip tickets.

Is there anyone here who works at a Saudi university? I need to discuss a few things.

I teach in the UAE. I do not know Saudi but the salary looks very low for someone with a Ph D plus life is not always easy in KSA.

I agree. I had applied to a few universities in UAE but to no avail. I am not sure what else I can get. UK isn't looking good at the moment.

The standard teachers at the British School get paid more than that, for someone with a Phd I would say that is far too low.

Which city is it based in?

It is in Jeddah. I know that this offer isn't good, but I am confused as to whether I should keep looking for the right job or accept this one for the time being.
