Its tenancy contract renewal time, and I have a question for the illustrious Bored..

My landlord has requested Emirates ID, passport copy and Residence visa copy for all people residing in the property.

Now, I loathe giving out copies of passports etc when I dont see the reason why. In this case, if they have a copy of Emirates ID, they should be able to confirm my passport and Residence visa details. No?

I've never rented directly with a landlord, have always had to go via an agent and the agent has always requested copies of all those, and so I don't see why it would be an issue to give copies to the landlord.

I just renewed with my landlord - it's always been direct with them.

They requested all the same - old habits die hard I guess. In theory you could still hold your EID and not have a valid visa - i.e. it was cancelled.

My landlord also arranged for the Ejari - they probably needed all the bits of paper for that.

My employer has also advised me that they now need all names of people living at the property when it comes time for Residence visa renewal..
