Tattoos in the Middle East
Hello,
Hopefully this question has not been asked recently (I did a quick search and nothing came up). I'm considering a move to the region with work, my query relates to 'Body Art'.
I have several tattoos which are visible if I'm wearing short sleeves or am in beachwear. I was wondering if they would be likely to cause offence to the local population? They don't depict anything dodgy or explicit.
I appreciate the arabian culture involves Henna Tattos etc, just wondered if anyone had any good/bad or indifferent stories with regard to body art.
Many thanks

I have a small tattoo on my ankle. I was told that it was frowned apon and not "corporate."
Make of that what you will. I don't actually work in a corporate environment anyway so I shrugged it off. I don't ever hide it so they knew about it from interview stage.
You probably wont be able to add to your collection though - i haven't seen any tattooists here, apart from henna ones.

Re: Tattoos in the Middle East
to have tattoos isnt legal, to make tattoos in middle east is illegal!!
Be careful with this private "artists" there are some scary stories about infection etc.
I have a arm sleeve and never ever one problem. Sure depend on your position on your workplace cover it, but this is mostly the same all over the world. But private no issue at all!
Not in saudi, kuwait, bahrain, qatar oman and uae. Some look at you like a stranger but thats it

Old women with big celtic designs on their wrinkly boot leather brown skin. Tacky tacky tacky and for Dubai and AD only please
My mrs is addicted to a US program on showtime about some rich women in Texas who just seem to go to clubs. A young girl in it has two massive tattoo bows on the top of her tits. The artist should have been shot for inking the girl there, its hideous
