Is the tap water in the Gulf hair friendly?

Yes. I was just like you would imagine a stereotypical Norwegian. Long blond hair, blue eyes, big as a house and usually carrying a massive hammer.
The water really f**cked me up, but the filter thing is gradually bringing me back to how I should be. Takes a huge amount of time though...

Mains Water is fine! However, much of the water in Dubai and the Middle East, is held in Holding Tanks within the building. Here, Bacteria can multiply, as the water is largely 'Stagnent' and is held at quite high temperatures.
A few years ago DEWA were encouraging everyone to use Mains Water; but if it comes through a Holding Tank, take care! The Dubai Building Code stipulates that Holding Tanks must be disinfected twice each year! - Has yours been cleaned recently? 'Maintenance' is unfortunatley one of those words that has been removed from the Arabic Vocabulary!

A lot of people have an issue with slight hair thining when they first move out here, but I suspect that it's due to the different chemical composition in the water and in time your body adjusts to it. If you have long hair it's more noticeable as the long strands are more visible.

This is interesting. I'm assuming the water in Bahrain is much the same. Oh God, does that mean my blond foils will survive but my naturally darker hair is going fall out?
Or worse still my chemically straightened hair will curl even more so. May as well save the money and not go to the salon.
Images of Natalie Portman come to mind when she shaved her head for "V for Vendetta".

Your hair won't fall out. It will be fine.
Anyone that says different is dreaming.
