Taking PC over to KSA
Hey all,
I plan on taking my PC over with me to Khobar, as it contains all my movies, games etc. Will that be a problem with customs, censorship etc? Would they check what's on the hard drives? Regards David |

Politically correct isn't compatible in KSA unless you've the 1482AD/beamisogynistcvnt edition.

Take a damned good power surge protector! Or it could die a horrible death.

Mine just got into Libya yesterday evening---but wasn't chaecked...too bad I had removed all the naughty things before coming here...

Our computers/tablets were never checked coming in and out - they always seemed more interested in whether the chocolates had alcohol in them!
Make sure you download a good VPN before you go to get around those annoying censorship issues that you can have. |
Re: Taking PC over to KSA
That's good news as I have TB's of 'uncensored' movies, music, books etc.
But to be on the safe side, I'll disconnect all the drives except for the bootup drive, they'll be none the wiser if they switch it on. @ Beakersful - Is the power spikes that bad? A VPN will be on the list of things to do before I go, mainly for torrents, but is the censorship of the Internet that bad? Thank you guys, David |

Re: Taking PC over to KSA
Internet censorship is fickle - things change - what you can get one day is gone the next and then back again two days later...... plus we found some sites blocked in Bahrain or Qatar weren't blocked in Saudi.........and vice versa.

Re: Taking PC over to KSA
First night in hotel in Riyadh I switched on to find an episode of Entourage plenty of uncensored boobies on show. Chuckled to myself

It's bad enough in Qatar, which is nowhere near as strict as Saudi, so god knows how much of the Internet will actually be left for you to see where you are heading

Re: Taking PC over to KSA
I must admit it was an interesting experience watching a 007 movie on Dubai 1 - it was much shorter by the time they edited out all the kissing and bedroom scenes - somehow it just wasn't Bond! No such problems on OSN thankfully!

Voltage Surge Protectors were standard when I was there.
