Re: Take car from Oman to UK
those duty/tax-free schemes are for those that buy under special circumstances - eg diplomats (who get personal cars tax free but can only sell to other people in the similar scheme or pay tax on sale), and similar governmental or EU or similar organisations - eg in the Netherlands the folks working for the European Patent Agency or in Brussels for the European commission get their cars tax free as well
however, I too would wonder why you want to bring a lefter in to the UK? |
Re: Take car from Oman to UK
One of the biggest issues you will have is not on that front but having it conform to very strict controls for cars. Headlights, emissions (no unleaded cars in Oman) and the like.
Depending on what the car is the dealer or a specialist service centre may be able to help you but I would get everything cleared from the DVLC or whatever the dept is in the UK. |

Check with dvla (google), give them a call, but I 'think', if you have owned the car for more than a year and done more than 10000km in it, you can import it tax free as it is a personal possession.
