Default The Surreal side of Christmas in Dubai

I went to Choithrams last night in Springs Village, and as I entered the building, I saw a shoddy Grotto and a scruffy Santa sitting on a chair. That wasn't the problem, though. It was what I heard that took my breath away. Coming from a portable stereo was the unmistakeable sound of Kevin Bloody Wilson singing "Ho, Ho, Fukcing Ho, what a crock of shiit!" at full volume.

I asked the Santa and the elfs if they knew what the song was about and they were completely oblivious. Didn't they wonder why all the adults with young kids were hurrying them out of the shop or blocking their little ears? Truly bizzare!

Rather tame, could have been his rendition of 'Santa Claus you ****'. Now that's a real classic for the festive season.

I wouldn't call it tame. There were plenty of C-words littered around that particular song.

It would have been even funnier if Santa had been pissed as well.

I've never seen better than a German Christmas. Snow, pine trees, gluhwein, no tacky decorations. Maybe it was because I was younger.

Other than Dubai, I have only ever known a uk Christmas - Each country is different

Dubai is about as Christmas-y as the Sharia Court in Jakarta.

The Germanic countries know how to do a proper traditional Christmas, very fews signs of crass commercialism.

The UK is nowhere near as bad as Rupert Murdoch would have you believe.
