And when you are called in for flicking a finger, everything else becomes inconsequential, whether the other driver tried to kill you, or jumped a signal and hit you, or was doing 100 in a 40 zone. The main issue becomes the "finger" and everything else is ignored, so be extra careful.

The Valentine One is your friend....but if they catch you with it, it's jail. And there isn't detector made which will warn of SPECS average speed cameras.

I bought a Garmin Sat Nav for AED 399 from Giant and it's very useful. Hello Kitty can confirm that

As for the iPhone, i think there is an app, just google-it my friend.

None of the GPS based Sat Nav devices with maps of the Middle East have safety camera locations. And all of them seem to be at least a year or two out of date when it comes to the roads....

Like I said, if you want the best radar detector, the Valentine One, is the one (pardon the pun)

Ukmed1 - I also need to visit a colo-rectal specialist. Would you kindly send me his/her contact information? Thanks.

Think there's an iphone app that allows users to mark speed cameras on a map. As in when you're passing a camera, you can mark that particular spot so the next time you're like a kilometer away from the spot the app will beep or something.. you can also enter the speed limit.. will find out the name and let you know shortly!

Can anyone clarify the situation on the Sheikh Zayed Road section in Dubai? The Abu Dhabi section clearly says that you can go to 140, but the Dubai section is signposted as 120 but on the other hand, I've seen cars go past me at 140 and not get flashed by cameras. Is there the same +20kmh allowance that there is in Dubai?

on the abu dhabi section of the road the speed limits used to be 160 but they have recently reduced them to the normal 120 + 20kph. You have to be more careful in dxb, as on some of the smaller roads there is no tolerance but on the main highway they are average speed distance ones as well as normal speed cameras but driving at 140 i think eventually you will be caught, driving at 130 is fine.

In the same vein are radar and laser detectors legal in the UAE?
