Smart Casual in Dubai
I'll be going to Dubai next week and have a dinner reservation at a nice restaurant where the dress code is "smart casual".
I tried googling the term and it came up with such a range of answers, from tshirt/polo + jeans, to shirt + jeans, to shirt + pants + blazer.
What is "smart casual" in this part of the world? Help!

Maybe better to post which restaurant for clearer feedback.

that is at the "smarter" end of restaurants...you don't usually see people in there in jeans for example, but you won't be turned away as long as you obey the rules we posted above, lol...enjoy, it's been closed for a while so will be interesting to see what it's like now...

oh - by the way (unless they've changed it) they have a tasting menu with wines to match - very nice indeed but pretty filling - but I have heard some people much prefer the al la carte instead...

Because they usually give out wrong info!
As MM said the rules tend to be stricter for the guys. A lot of restaurants insist on a collar/sleeves so best not to wear a T-shirt and defo closed shoes for most restaurants here. They seem to have dropped the "no Jeans" rule in most places.
I think girls can be as dressy as they like here.

They've got a new head chef for the departed matt pickop , nearly as good as when Angela Hartnett was at the helm.
Done a decent job on the refurb as well, as the Hilton Dubai creek is pretty much a business city center hotel.
Enjoy
