Situation in Syria & possibly Lebanon?
The news coming out of Syria is not good at all.
Interesting article also about possible implications for Lebanon...
I really hope this does not escalate further, but it seems inevitable that it will.

Hope it doesn't kick off in Lebanon. Went to Beirut last year for a long weekend break, had a great time. The rebuilding of the City has taken a while, some really moving photographs of the 'troubles' and just as they seemed they were getting sorted out...

It seems that everytime Lebanon gets back on its feet, something else kicks off. I hope that they can avoid it this time and that the Syrian authorities finds a solution before it gets even worse.

I am currently in Syria and everyone has been friendly and welcoming.
In fact, more so than in London where I have travelled from.

Don't worry, you could be forgiven if you are not up to date with the news from London recently.
At least three people were killed during the riots which spread across the UK. It did make headline news, especially considering that London is hosting the 2012 Olympic games. People's business' and homes were set on fire and literally destroyed.
From personal experience, I was the victim of a physical assault and a Hit and Run incident in London earlier this year. I had only called the police hours earlier to report concerns for my safety because of threats I had received. I was obviously quite right to be concerned. It was broad daylight and there were several witnesses and the actual witness who called emergency services even gave the police the registration number of the car which hit me (at speed)
The Metropolitan Police in London have for some reason refused to follow-up or investigate this and yet have refused to give any valid reason why.
When I saw one of the two perpetrators from the hit and run incident only two weeks later, I contacted the police immediately. They did nothing.
I am a British Citizen, born and raised in London. To have to leave your own country because of concerns for your safety and a lack of any investigation is not an easy decision and I have fought for months and months to find out why nothing has been done to investigate.
I can speak truthfully when I say that my time so far in Syria has made me feel safe, that I have been been treated kindly and that the people here go about their daily lives with dignity.
I can let you know about all the places I visit in Syria as soon as I have the chance to do so and of this I can be sure, I will feel as at home and welcomed as I do in Damascus presently.

Apologies for answering a question with a question but are you employed by the Metropolitan Police Commissioner and is your family name Hague?
