Default Show Box & iPod.

Anyone out there got the new show box from showtime? If so Have you downloaded anything from your hard drive to your PC and have you tried to transfer to an iPod?

I haven't tried yet but would like to know if it is possible and how.

I am using XP and not an Apple which can make it harder to change the format to MPEG 4 I know. That is another hitch I am researching. Also am thinking of buying a Mac as you can load Windows on the Pentium one now. But think I might wait till the new Pentium Chips are out and have come down in price.

I got a Netgear MP101 to play MP3s through my hi-fi. It works well straight out of the box but it wouldn't play Radio 1 (because it's broadcast in Real Media) so I spent about 20 hours and several chewed finger nails getting my PC to re-broadcast the radio stream so the MP101 can play it. The device is in the same room as the PC

I don't know the answer either

I asume that you can thefore record to the hard drive then. And you use a particular piece of software and that decides the file format? Also you on Mac or Windows?

Windows XP. I use ShowShifter and it records in DivX format. Sadly they've gone under so you can't buy it any more.

can you change divX to MP4 easily or is it just as difficult.

Like I said before think I might get a Mac Book or something. I just find it odd that Mac have just changed to Intel and now Intel have anounced they are bringing out a new processor which can handle more traffic and use less power.

Anyway still got to find out if I can get the stuff of my decoders hard drive yet. There are two USB ports on it but it doesn't have anything in the manual about getting the stuff off the hard dirve to an external source but there must be a way.

I find using a Heavy Axe interface normally gets most stuff out...

I don't have a shoubox. Are they the same as a TiVo or Sky Plus box? If so try searching online for the solution to those. I could be wrong, but I doubt Showtime have totally designed a new hard drive recorder from scratch?

We have been downloading movies from pc to new iPod it works fine but the pixels on the tv can be crap so we have now bought a new Lcd TV however picture from iPod to tv still crap but if you download to removable hard drive you can plug it straight into new Tvs and it works fine I think you must lose some quality downloading to iPod.....

I think that the picture quality is compressed to fit on to the ipod screen and therefore don't look to good on the big screen when played from the ipod.

Where are you getting the movies from itunes or somewhere else? and are you paying for them?

I assume it is the same as TiVo and Sky Plus but I don't know for sure as I haven't seen either of them. The Showbox is from UEC which is an SA company. There wasn't much info on their web site about the decoders use. Was thinking of going to the SA section of here and asking in there is anyone has one.

PS where can I get this heavy axe interface, I got one from Karama but it says it isn't compatable as it is 1.0 think I might try ACE to find AXE 2.0

Why mot hust get the new MacMini intel and connect it straight to the TV as your monitor. Don't worry about running Windows on the Mac- after 5 minutes using OSX you'll love it, it's so easy.

Am thinking of getting a Mac just going to wait for the new Intel chips that are coming out. They are going to be faster and more power efficient. Also I am not sure on this Mac Mini, it only has a fairly small hard drive doesn't it.

Also I would still like to have windows as a option. Do you use OSX?

Do you have many compatabilty problems?
