Hi so i know all about rent in advance of a year etc is there a possibility of a short term let? That doesnt cost the earth i mean.. thinking buying a flat would be best but dont want to tie ourselves in for a years rental elsewhere. any ideas? or anyone have a flat to rent Greens, Beach residences, al barsha type areas??

if you want short term rent your best bet may be to rent a large en-suite room in a shared Villa in Barsha or Umm suqeim. you should be able to get one where you pay monthly and are not tied to any contract period!

There are companies in Dubai doing short term lets, Betterhomes is one. Be warned it is very, very expensive- in the region of 20,000Dhs a month for a one bedroom place at the Marina, maybe a bit less in the Greens.

not exactly like Uni
shared luxury villas normally with swimming pools

large en-suite rooms and a cleaner. it might be worth checking out as a temorary option. the advantage is that its monthly.

hardly ever see most of my housemates!
kitchen is cleaned by the cleaner and never any pots in the sink.

so you do this too? I love cooking so that may be a slight issue. Plus, is there a shared loungs of some sort?

When we arrived in January, my company booked us in to the World Trade Centre Apartments on SZR. I know they do both short term and long term lets there, so you might want to check them out. (The beds were like bricks though)

Thanks Scarletfan. I do get a small allowance for relocation costs but need to find out what exactly this covers.. the apartments seem fairly expensive if i am staying for a month or so
