Sheikh Mo's daughter failed escape plot

https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...-failed-escape

But he looks like such a nice man in the local newspaper reports. As did Saddam Hussein and Colonel Gaddafi, before they got theirs...

Yep, it's been kept somewhat quiet on the old reporting front here. Perhaps it's fake news.

Did anyone see the BBC 2 documentary on this that was on earlier this week?

I've not had a chance yet, but it must have caused some ruffles here as they quickly issued a notice about her being safe and well in the care of her family...

Yes, I watched it. Pretty shocking. Was surprised to see that those involved in the rescue/flight attempt are free and breathing. The government statement is laughable, trying to make out it was a kidnapping and ransom request. As for Latifa...who knows what happened to her?

I just tried to access iPlayer via my company's VPN and it came up with
'BBC iPlayer only works in the UK. Sorry, it’s due to rights issues. In the UK? Here's some advice.'
any idea why this is?

Erm, at a guess it's because you are in the UAE? Your corporate VPN is probably not based in UK either.

If you have a UK VPN or DNS - its works just fine.

BBC is blocking many VPN's . My old one used to work with BBC but it has now been blocked
They seem to do a few VPNs every few months

Re: Sheikh Mo's daughter failed escape plot

have you tried logging onto iplayer before you switched vpn on?

The cache could show that you are out of UK. Try switching laptop off and back on again. Then switch on vpn.

If it shows bbc.co.uk when you log in the vpn is working. If it shows bbc.com it is not...
