Had an email from the boss saying be prepared, with Ramadan coming, to have an announcement and days of mourning.

I'm sure it's just arse covering, but it seems the poor chap keeps dying / has been dead / has just died / died ages ago every time a religious holiday pops up.

It's gotta just be Chinese whispers hasn't it?
Someone remembers it's a holiday coming, someone remembers he's clearly not been too well, tells someone, who tells someone else, eventually it spreads like a whore's legs and becomes 'fact'.

Who knows.

as above. No smoke without fire and ramadan is particularly auspicious.

the rumor I heard this time has come from a govt. organisation but again who knows.
What I do know is its been done before so it wouldnt surprise me and that the internal politics are so complicated and convoluted that again it wouldnt surprise me if it had taken months to sort out.

I met someone a couple of weeks ago and we got onto the subject. He was adamant that he's alive and alright. Not great, but alright. Said he knew his personal physician. Was pretty adamant.

As i say who knows. Its not helped by the very real danger from too overt a discussion on these matters.

sorry scampy my man that means nothing!

as you know there are even people in this here country/city who claim that the real estate market is fully functional, the school prices are reasonable and we should be happy to pay over the top for various services (since there is no better place in the world and if we don't like it we can just go back to the awful place we came from)...

[if you are confused the above is meant as an example of some other crazy things that you get told while living the city that used to have streets paved with gold allegedly]
