Sharjah or Dubai or whatever
Hi everyone
I'm a new user so please don't be rude if I am asking questions that have already been answered.
I'm 26 with a Commercial Pilot License. After years (5) of patience and hundreds (330) of applications, I am now thinking of just taking whatever I have left in my bank account and jump to the UAE to look for a job. Phone calls are pretty useless for me. There's plenty of small commuters that I want to go see and apply "live". Maybe that's the only way I could convince a company to hire a young and motivated Pilot
the UAE are known to be expensive. I'm therefore looking for info about renting a place to stay for let's say one month in Sharjah. I have found this website pretty useful
http://realestate.theemiratesnetwork...s.php?city=SHJ
but my problem is that I do not know which area to avoid and which oen to choose.
I'd really appreciate if anyone had info to share about accommodation and/or
pilot jobs out there (freight, air taxi, scheduled unscheduled.. wahtever).
Thanx a lot guyz

Well I don't really have questions about the job or how to get one. I just need some help to find one. Emirates, Qatar airways or Ettihad are all in urgent need of Pilots but they close their doors to unexperienced pple like me . Take Qatar for example, they don't pay as good as Emirates but have the same requirements ... it does not make sense to me especially when you never meet your hiring objectives year after year.
As I said it in my previous posts, all I have is my licenses and my motivation. I have tryed everything (mail, email, phone calls) but to actually knock on those companies doors and ask to speak to whoever is responsible for the hiring of pilots.
If your hubb can do something, I'd really appreciate that. PM anytime.

Why not try getting a job doing cattle runs around spain or greece for a couple years ferrying people around to dive sites etc to get the experience?

Aaaan, I didn't insist on an airline pilot job. I'd fly freight, courier, night cargo flights ...whatever !

UAE Nationals are trained to take-up as Co Pilots first to gain experience. Currently there is a shortage of Defense Airforce Pilots, thus the commercial sector is being over looked.
If a National is granted the possibility to chose from either he will ultimately chose the commercial sector.
Who will fly the Fighter planes?
So I reckon it will take another 20years for emiratisation of the Commercial Airlines.

OK ... But what's your point ? It still means airlines hire their nationals without any experience

Don't think it would work like that. Nowadays no such things. I live in Doha and mixed alot with QR pilots ... and so far i found they are from Filipin, Malta, Norway, Malaysian, French, Switzerland, Mexico and all other part of the world.
Still finger cross you would find a job soon.
