A serious question for construction bods....
Anyone got any good sources for constuction costs in £/m2 in the UK? Industrial type construction, steel structure with cladding - light duty plant housing....
I think someone's trying to charge me silly prices cause he thinks we're naive petrol heads.... (£2K/sq m for a glorified shed!!!) {and yes, i know it's a me forum but so many of you are from UK construction firms and I don't know any construction people here... Nor do i want to.} |
Re: A serious question for construction bods....
Definitely sounds to me like you might be getting shafted........although steel has shot up over the last year. Have you got a QS on board, they should have access to some basic cost models for different types of units.
Remember some of the work for my previous employer and including prelims etc I think £/m2 for a steel and blockwork trainig facility came in at about £1300 per m2 |

Re: A serious question for construction bods....
We are building small industrial units in the UK on contract placed 12 months ago- 6m eaves, 35KN/m floor loading, steel portal frame with profile steel walls and roof, elec in to distribution board and nil office content. Good ground ie reinforced pad foundations only at circa £400/sq.m. If I was starting now would expect a cheaper price maybe 10-15% less!!!!!
Hope this helps. |

Hope this helps. But if you can PM the details of your company at £400/sqm I would certainly give them a try. I can through in free tickets & hospitality at GP races for next season if that helps..... |
