Second Interview in Dubai
Hello Everyone!
I've recently been offered a second interview with a company in Dubai and I really need some advice on what living in Dubai would be like for me and my family. Any feedback will be greatfully received! Firstly, a bit of background. I'm married, have a three year old daughter and a second baby due in Septemeber.
Anyway, the company have sent me the Terms and Conditions of the job offer and one of the biggest questions I have is how far will my money go? Will we be scraping by or will we be able to save?! (Million dollar question I know!)
The job comes with a Dhs 14K/month basic, and includes a fully furnished three bed apartment, (i assume I will have to pay utilities), transport allowance, car loan, medical insurance and an education allowance of upto Dhs 30k / annum (primary education).
Rainny Manchester or Sunny Dubai...........??
Thanks for reading...take care

Hi,
You say that your salary is 14K basic. Without knowing your industry, does that infer that you are going to get O/T??
14K is ok, depends what kind of lifestyle you wish for TBH.
If the apartment is in your companies name, clarify that THEY foot the bill for the utilities cause that can be quite steep, esp if your apartment does not have central A/C
People will have different opinions on the kind of lifestyle you can lead on that salary, but i think you can live ok, but i dont think it will leave too much to save whilst you are here

Sorry Blue Cat, looks like you'll be getting the drinks in as I'm not a teacher!
I don't expect to be doing any O/T and I have asked the company whether the accomodation offered includes utilities. I think what has been offered is fair for the industry (aviation) that I work in, I guess I just need to work out whether it's right for me and my family.
Cheers

If you are getting:
1, a free apartment
2, a hefty school fee allowance
PLUS
14k basic and a car allowance, I presume of a few k a month, then you'll be more than fine.

Of course, I am only commenting on whether you could save. Whether its market rate for your line of work I have no idea.
