School Assistant/ Admin Job
Hi all, just arrived from sunny UK.
My wife needs something to occupy here time and would ideally like to work in the same school where our son will be going. She doesn't have any experience of working with children or admin but she would consider anything, even voluntary to start with. How should I broach the subject with the school? What kind of response do you think she should expect?
Any info would help.

in dxb or auh. if you dont have experience i would suggest that you ask your child's teacher and go in as a parent helper, there is always the need, and then when a TA or such like comes up they know what you are like, and perhaps you can get your foot in the door that way. but the pay isnt very much something like 6k (for admin)

Zaba there are lots of part time opportunities around, she could check out the classifieds on www.expatwoman.com and also there is a new agency set up to deal with part time jobs on www.expatpartner.com I think it is.
If your wife sends a letter with her CV to a bunch of schools I'm sure she'll get a job no problem.
All the best!

from your post, it sounds like your wife is a child herself, maybe you should sign her up for kindergarden

what rubbish - zab never shied away from his own research... it was very clearly a specific post directed at people with knowledge of the schools here, as to how to broach the subject.
Significant double standards at play here between 'established' posters who, it seems, can with impunity hijack genuine requests for information into cliquey bu11shit, or ask very general questions about airfares etc (where research is only a click away on airline websites, expedia, google etc)... and yet this is the way that the established people on here choose to welcome a new poster to the forum?
BC your instigation to 'do your own research' would make a little more sense without that frankly rather bizarre post earlier about why Mrs Zabadabadoo isn't posting. Maybe she's busy, maybe she doesn't want to, maybe Zab has offered to help his wife out.
Zab - this is not typical of the threads on the board. don't be put off the the attitude of a few posters on your thread. Welcome to the ME and welcome to BE. Ahlan wasa7lan.
