Saudi Average Wage
 

Good morning/afternoon all. I have been given an opportunity to possibly work in Saudi (Riyadh) for a Consultancy with a wage offer of around, or what would be between £10,000 and £12,000 per month in English pounds. I’m middle management and have never worked abroad before so was wondering if this is roughly the average wage?

Like I said I’ve never worked abroad but am seriously considering it so any advice is welcome.

I think you'll struggle to get meaningful answers without more information about you, the new role, your current role, current salary etc. Also what allowances does the offer include ? Is it a discussion with a recruiter plucking a figure or something more formal ?

My current role is Associate Director/Commercial Manager level. The role I will be going for will be at the same level. Current salary in the UK is circa £83k. This is working in Consultancy.

What sort of industry? I'm at a similar level client side for a PIF project, so somewhat biased with possibly some of the best pay conditions in the kingdom. But it would align more with people I know in the private sector.

You'll be fine in Riyadh on that wage..unless you have any dependants to cover schooling, compound housing, etc..unless that comes on top.

Ultimately, Riyadh is as expensive or cost effective as you make it. You can go out and eat for 40 sar, or 400 sat. You can pay 80k sat for a flat, or closer to 200k for a flat in a compound. You can shop at a number of supermarkets, or go to spinneys.

The average wage here is about £2.5k according to the internet, and there's generally very high levels of income disparity. There's something on offer at all price points..but it's generally quite dull, and easy to not spend money on much as a single working person with a limited social life.
