Great - I loved it there (as you can see above).

Sana'a is an amazing and crazy place.

Salta the local stew is fantastic... anyway - it's all in this post.

I used to go to Yemen and Sanna at least 2-3 times a year for about 8 days at a time, mind you this was about 6 years ago, when i was in AUH.
The city centre itself was as its been said very basic.
The basic monthly wage packet was then about 200 U.S.$ A MONTH.
I stayed on the Hunt Oil compound, very tight security into the compound.
I used to out by my self on an evening with my own body guard and his AK47. At no time did i ever feel threatened or uncomfortable there at all in fact the locals very friendly.
Up to the Hotel, Top floor for a beer and the dance Group / Band

i almost cry! you brought some great memories 15 yrs ago ....

was in yemen in 1994 for 16months doing some construction work

i recommend HAJA and MAHABSHA - Magical places = out of this world
if you need to feel like in heaven go to JABAL AL KOROOD in Bajil ( Hodayda-by red sea) - in english monkeys mountain....you'll stay there for ever!
we went south south to Eden city...and was WAO
then we closed down the branch after the kidnap of our surveyor in Eden ..things are heaps safer 15yrs ago...

BY THE WAY, any one in Libya- Tripoi? i may accept an offer there...cherio

I'm familiar with Sanaa, but I've recently been advisd not to go. Some of the kidnap threats creeping towasrds the city apparenty.
