I'm a general manager of a small light industrial sales company at the moment but when I get to Dubai I'll be doing the same thing but for a Media company specialising in corporate films, multi media, etc....
I was a vehicle mechanic in the army, left and somehow got into business management! To be honest, it's just good old common sense and the key to the man management side of things is to be understanding and put yourself in your staffs position and realise how you would react if you were asked to do X Y or Z.
Whats to stop you becoming a manager for a construction company in Dubai. Talk up the CV a bit, obviously keeping it truthful, and based on the building knowledge you have to have as a sparks anyway you could get something I'm sure. Remember that most people learn their new job while doing it, not before.

No problem
I take it you'd go to Dubai at the drop of a hat. Is your missus there at the moment?
Would it be worth your while, if you have a bit of time, doing evening classes in the fundamentals of management or something? The worst that could happen is that you do the course and you could take on other sparks, set up your own company and make a fortune
. Or...... have something on your CV that the bosses in Dubai can grasp hold of. Age is irrelevant if you have the experience. I know plenty of middle aged failures but not many young ones as they have all of their lives to try and get it right.
