Salik amazement
I just went to fill the car up and the little chappy asked me if I wanted Salik, as I hadn't signed up yes, I said ok then. He sorted the whole thing out in 5 mins and I didn't even have to get out of the car!!!

Re: Salik amazement
Well, three weeks on and no username, and today when I called Salik I found out why...
Joint accounts are not really joint accounts.
My wife and I have cars in our own names, because of that, we can not have a joint acount. I have had to email the pink with my wifes name lined through and email a new application form for my wife, and email copies of both registration cards to salik customer services. Fingers crossed I should have an account (or two!) this afternoon.
Joint accounts are only valid if multiple cars are owned by a single person!

Its good to have tho just in case we go into Dubai. You never know after being in Abu Dhabi for a few months its easy to forget there is a toll in Dubai ()!

I feel sorry for the poor people that work at the petrol station...every time I go in there, they are being shouted at by people that cannot cope with the fact that they are sold out....this morning again they got some terrible abuse thrown at them while I was there...they just smiled and apologized 10 times.

Re: Salik amazement
We've moved into our villa....I've jumped off the front lawn into the canal every day until the neighbour told me off as apparently you're not allowed to swim in there as there are boats travelling about. Spoil sport...but then he's a brit so it's no surprise .
My missus can't complain about my driving anymore as she's already had more crashes in Bahrain than I have. (She got hit from behind when she stopped at a red light and the guy behing her.....didn't.) Only a hire car so who cares.
Got my sat. tv sorted.
Just waiting for missus to get a job and for me to find a boat (which is proving quite difficult) and we'll be all set.
I've met a few poeple who used to live in Dubai and moved here....I wonder if there will be a general trend soon of people leaving Dubai for qatar, bahrain etc.
The weather is much nicer here as well....temps much the same but the humidity is far less....we can sit outside in the evening no bother.
In other words - no regrets!!!

well done! great to hear that it has all worked out as planned. I am sure alot of people will be leaving here to try other Gulf countries, this one is getting worse.
