Re: IT salary in Dubai
I got in a taxi at the weekend, asked to go somewhere and taxi man asked me how to get there, I said I didn't know that was why I was taking a taxi and asked him to call his control to get advise..well he went nuts shouting that he wasn't going to talk to the control and why did I not know where I was going....Is this the norm :curse::curse::curse:

Re: IT salary in Dubai
I quite like the buses in Dubai to be honest. However if i were a woman I probably wouldn't.
It's a two- (at least) tier society here. You don't generally find westerners on buses. I have chosen not to acquire a car, so to save on daily hire costs for the weekends if I'm heading into town i take the bus (no maps or timetables or queues though - when a bus comes into view, everyone asks everyone else for his opinion as to where the bus might or might not be going!) Then again I like that sense of adventure as I'm in really no hurry to get to where I want to go!
I have managed to get from Sharjah into Dubai, the museum area, Bank St, Trade Centre, Deira city Centre and back to Sharjah spending less than Dhs 20 on transport !!
Trains, forget it - they're building the first line of a MRT system at the moment so let's wait and see.
