Hi there I have been offered a job in Qatar and the total package per month is:

basic pay 22,952 Riyals
Accomadation 8.000 riyals
transport 1.500 Riyals

Is this package good and could any of the readers advise. Thanks for your assistance.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Salaries vary enormously out here, from QR800/m for an Indian site labourer to say 100x that for a well qualified, western construction professional/ specialist. Not sure where you are in that range, but I'd guess somewhere in the middle.

However, the QR8k accommodation will allow you to rent a 2/3 bed basic flat or maybe a really poor quality villa in a rough area. You'll need to budget for providing some furnishings/ kitchen equipment yourself too.

The transport at QR1.5k/m is too low. A small basic car e.g. Mitsubishi Lancer will cost QR2.5k/m to rent.

Watch the Sponsorship thing - once you commit to an employer, your locked in and can't move jobs without their permission or have to leave Qatar for 2 years. So make sure you're happy with the deal before coming!

Oh, and remember you need to be here for a minimum of 1 tax year to keep HMRC off your case, which for you won't start until 6 April next year.

Another Oh, If you have kiddies, factor in up to QR9k each per school term (ouch).

Hope this helps.
