Sailing clubs in Bahrain or UAE?
Hello
Can anybody advise as to whether there are any decent ex-pat sailing clubs in either UAE or Bahrain?
My wife and I both sail but are based in Rehab. I'd like to sail in the Gulf either dingy or yacht and would like to hire if such is available.
Thanks

In Dubai there is DOSC (Dubai Offshore Sailing Club) or DIMC (Dubai International Marine Club). JASC (Jebel Ali Sailing Club) is part of DIMC I believe.

Re: Sailing clubs in Bahrain or UAE?
I am a member of the Abu Dhabi Sailing Club. We race dinghies weekly throughout the year - boats are owned by the club (RS400s, Kestrels, Lasers, Optimists) and the fees cover provision of the boats. On a good weekend we'll have twenty or so boats out. The downside is that you have to be a member of The Club (used to be known as The British Club) to be a member of the sailing club. Makes it a bit expensive if you're only interested in the sailing.
Other than that there is a bit of casual cat sailing and cruiser sailing from Al Bateen - including the odd boat for hire I believe - but no regualr organised racing.
All in all not great, I've sailed in many parts of the world and apart from a couple of months in the middle of summer this has to be one of the best venues I've ever sailed in.

irich - there are also sailing clubs in RAK and Fujerah, but I note that you have asked for 'expat sailing clubs'. All of the clubs mentioned are open to all nationalities, including Emiratis and you will be locals in the clubhouses. (Many of them drink regularly at DOSC where I go frequently.)

2 yacht clubs in Bahrain
The Yacht club out near Sitra on the East of the island and the ex RAF Sailing club whose new name escapes me at the public beach on the West of the island.
We know members of the former but everyone has left the island for summer so no idea on costs but worth a google
