I've got a Panasonic fax which works at the Marina with no problems - I usually just leave it in Answering Machine/fax mode. I only have one extension phone, but I can't see that making any difference. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

so you are saying you have a main line and one extension, or only one line (active jack) in the whole apt?

I'm really positive that is the problem with my thing, a guy is coming here tomorrow to check it out, i'm going to have him deactivate the extension so there is only one active line and see if it makes a difference

what model panasonic is yours...i have kx-fp342cx

any chance I could borrow yours to see if it makes difference?

It's a kx-fp156, and I've got 2 active sockets, one in the lounge and one in the bedroom. I'm away this afternoon for a couple of days, let me know if you can't get it working in that time. Have you tried plugging the fax into the extension socket?
