RTA and driving Dubai car without residence
RTA today confirmed to me that it is no longer necessary for the driver of a Dubai registered vehicle to be a resident of Dubai...not that I have this problem but for visitors not wanting to rent a car and use ours.
Waiting for written confirmation before I let anyone loose in the Jeep as I am sure the policemen that will stop them don't know this ...
Any other experiences ?

Re: RTA and driving Dubai car without residence
I clarified this with my insurers and the RTA only two weeks ago.
Non residents are legally permitted to drive hire cars and those personal vehicles registered to 'first degree' relatives holding a UAE residency. First degree relatives include parents, offspring, and siblings. The non-resident driver in such circumstances must obtain an international driving permit from their home country (In the UK this is done at selected post offices). There is no-longer a requirement to obtain a temporary UAE driving license.
Check with your insurers with regards to minimum ages etc.
Non-residents are NOT allowed to drive vehicles that are NOT in the ownership of a first degree relative.
