Pleased to see the first cinema in Riyadh opened yesterday. Any idea how to buy tickets?

Can be bought at the ticket office outside.

I went to a double bill yesterday' 'The passion of the Christ' followed by 'Basic Instinct'. Was out after 15 minutes

Probably not. Last time I went in the UK which was about 5 years ago now it was 11GBP I think.

Prices will come down though I think as more places open. It's 3BD in Bahrain, or 4BD for 3D.

They need to charge more there to cover the extra costs for deep cleaning, pest control and injections for staff to protect them from the local population.

The CEO of AMC said prices will probably go up, to $35/ticket (130 SAR), because demand is so high. Most Saudis I've spoken to say they won't pay that much and instead continue to pirate movies.

So I tried to go the cinema but the tickets had all sold out online (apparently) a week in advance and if you wanted to buy on the door, it was a complete no-go. Great atmosphere though - lots of smiley happy people clutching their tickets tightly with expressions of glee. Worth a visit just for the novelty factor.
