Default RIBA Part 2 Architect graduate - Work in Dubai?

Hello,

Last June i completed my RIBA Part II Architecture in the UK. I am hesitant in continuing my part III in the UK as i have no intention in working here for the long term. (2/3 years down the line i see myself in the US/Australia).

In the meantime, I am thinking a couple of years in Dubai could be a great experience for me. I have no knowledge of how western architecture graduates get on out there; would there be much of a demand for us? If anybody could provide me with some good sources to research this further, or a list of architecture firms that would be interested in such graduates - It would be greatly appreciated.

I'm 26 years old and I also have a degree in Architectural Technology. Between my studies I have taken 2 years work placement.

Cheers!

I've asked one of my clients in the industry if he can comment and will get back to you if it's positive!

hi norm_uk - my husband is also looking for work in Dubai he is Part III qualified currently working in the leisure industry although has experince working on large scale residential developments - luxury flats and houses for a national housebuilder. He currently works on refurbs of bars restaurants and nightclubs (some fairly famous names) and has an upcoming project on a casino. He is 2 years qualified. Do you think he has a chance out there?

My husband did his just before we left the UK. He started work after his Part II so never got round to completing his Part III. However when we decided we were moving here he completed it. It did not take long so you may find that it will stand you in better stead in the long run.

Yes there is a huge demand for western architects but not too sure about graduates. The fact that you have 2 years work experience will probably help you find a job. I will send you some names of companies in Dubai.
