Without having the luxury of a crystal ball on my desk, you would need to give some idea as to what the 'same old restaurants' are.

Oasis(Chinese/Thai) in Karama. Enjoyed delicious crunchy honey chilli chicken and noodles for Dhs35 yesterday but unlicensed. Plenty other cheap'n'cheerful restaurants nearby.

I went to Zuma last night at the DIFC. Awesome, nice buzz to it although obviously it's a little pricey.

In your line of work, you can just bill some poor unsuspecting client for it.........

Why dont you try Smiling Bangkok behind the Emirates garage on Al Wasl Road near the Post Office. The food is excellent, the decor funky and the price is very good value. Beats those boring 5 star hotels all the time.

They also turn a blind eye to you bringing in your own "water" bottles.
