Default Resident Visa medical test in UAE

Hi all,

Does anyone have a list of items included in the medical check once we arrive in the UAE for employment?

Thanks!

Items?? The medical consists of a blood test (HIV, Hep etc) and also a chest x-ray if the sponsor is based in a free zone.

to gain a visa you must have a medical, if you are in military for example they make the kids take the test as well, which i dont agree with, but the worker needs to have the usual medical (blood test) and also the chest xray etc, but as a housewife you only need to do the blood work.

I just wondered as you stated "always". Playing devils advocate and pedant, "always" implies there are no exceptions which is not the case.

I have now undertaken the medical 4 times and never been X-rayed. My wife has undertaken the process twice, no X-ray, (different sponsor, different free zone so not associated to my visa). Having also done a quick straw poll at work of our staff approx 50% were not X-rayed.

Maybe we are an exception but it proves "always" is not a correct statement. I think a more realistic response is that blood work is required but an X-ray may be required dependant on the day / staff / job etc etc.

It is in fact called an employment permit, but commonly referred to as an employment visa as once it is issued, it is effectively your temporary residency visa for 30 days(but note you cannot travel outside the UAE during the time from when it is issued to your residency visa is issued).

You need this and your medical tests before immigration can process and issue your permenant residency visa in your passport

I have gone through this process twice. The first time I had no x-ray, the second time I did. Different employers, same job. Thre is no pattern or logic - at least none that is obvious. My understanding however is that the x-ray is now mandatory, due to an increase in TB/some other lung disease (?) in some countries where expats are coming from.

well we have been through many a renewal for visas here in AD (anyway) and always a chest xray this is always done at al noor, so perhaps its the hospital which 'are doing it' so as always here in this place it depends on the time and place

oh i tried to edit it didnt work. anyway when i was in al noor here in ad i asked them the procedure even though we have been through it many times, and he told me that always a chest xray for the employment visa but not for a housework as you are not working once you apply for labour card etc then chest xray required.
