Perhaps you could give them a good kicking for me!

Thanks for that. I thought that the school situation had calmed down a bit because a few new ones had been built. But obviously not then!

Sounds like property prices are still going crazy, I have a budget of around AED 150k per year. There is no way I would come out on anything less that AED 40k per month package.

150 won't get you a three bed on the Springs, definately not. Schooling has shot up as well, make sure your figures are spot on or it could all end in tears. Sorry to be so gloomy but just want to help :(

I would be after a 2 bed. Last time we had a 3 bed and the third bed just sat empty. I did also read the article on schools hiking up fees.

At the moment I am basing my figures on the GUlf News classifieds and school fees of the Gems websites. So as long as these aren't out of date we should be OK.

Thanks.

Be careful on that. Are the fees for this year or next year? Our school just announced a large hike (about 15-20%) in the fees.

At the moment I have bugeted around AED30k per annum for schools fees. Basically, I'm allowing AED190K per annum for school fees and a 2 bed apartment. If it starts getting ridiculously out of hand then sod it! Stay where I am.

I think the days of packages in the early to mid 30s (AED) are no longer sufficient.

Last time I was in Dubai, I stayed opposite the Sahara Centre. Building had good facilities but a pain in the rear to get to Dubai. Therefore definately wouldn't fancy the Al Nadha area again!

I think they are limited to 16% rises.

15ok will get you a 2 bed in the springs, though why you'd want to live there is beyond me.

Just checked. They've gone up 16%. Surprise surprise.

As for Springs - what other options are there for Villas? Jumeirah/Umm Sequimm? Even more expensive. Mirdiff? Not any cheaper these days and you get the lovely sound of planes all day and night. Other side of the creek? Forgetabardit.

Majj, if you only need 2 beds, why not go for an apartment?

Agreed - with an apartment you get a pool, gym, underground parking, watchman, you don't pay for AC...

Erm, opps sh*t sorry. :o Did I not make it clear I was going for an apartment......

Seriously A villa is out of the question anyway, its dead money, so no point looking at villas.
