Renting Cars in Portugal and elsewhere in Europe

We plan to rent a car in Lisbon and Hamburg, Do you just need the UK Driving License and Credit card? or like in the UK does one need to use the paper part of the license and get the DVLA penalty details on a printout? Thanks

I just bring my Qatar Licence. No issues hiring cars across Europe (but haven't tried Portugal).

I hired in Portugal 2 years ago on my UAE license - no issues.

I've hired repeatedly in Portugal on my UK license with a UK credit card while living in the ME.

Can't speak for Germany, but I live in Portugal. When I first came, I'd lost my UK license, so both the wife and me drove on UAE licenses here no problem. We hired a car, and when we bought a car, our insurer accepted them fine too (we could drive for 6 months, maybe more, on a foreign license I think).

My parents have been coming regularly for last 5 years and my dad has hired a car most times from various places, using his UK license and never been asked for the online driving record thing. I am sure a UAE license would be fine too.
