A LONG way off ... as in, I doubt they will ever come. Loads of problems with the final delivery of the towers that they have built.

Not as such, some nice new ones up near the Spinneys. When you get here you will know - don't worry too much about it now...

We saw some 2/3 bed apartments in the new towers near The One that were in the 200-250 range. Crap views and next to building sites, but relatively affordable.

Great location, but as you say crap views. The towers down by spinneys will be more due to the views...plus shopping delivered...

Heard a story last week from a subcontractor working on Reem that the island power infrastructure isn't man enough for the job to the point where the district cooling plant can't be switched on. If its true, its gonna be a looooonnnggg wait..

Your story isn't far off the truth.

The other issue is that the building compliance certificates can only be issued (which allows handover) when the building can be shown to be running on power. Previously they allowed temporary power to issue the certificates but for these bad boys they want to show it running off the grid.

They can (probably) run the cooling on gas though. However, as far as I know they haven't signed the contracts with Tabreed yet...

I meant "relatively affordable" in the context of an accommodation allowance of 220. Not relatively affordable compared to, say, Dubai.

Freddy10 is an unknown quantity at this point
Default Re: Reem island vs khalidiyah

Thank you everyone for your advice, much appreciated particularly as I was half considering reem island.

There are a bunch of khalidiyah 2 beds on dubizzle going for 120k - 150k, I am a little suspicious as info looks very light and based on previous responses looks too good to be true.
