How is that possible??

Is it not decided by the moon-sighting committee in Saudi?

Yes, I always thought it was the sighting of the moon. Nowadays though, using mathematics and other science stuff, they can calculate when the new moon will be visible, so therefore have a pretty solid prediction.

In Saudi, the diaries and calendars since the start of the year were stating it was Sept 1st anyway!

The calendar I had showed the 2 days of Eid Al Fitr being Tues 30 Sept and Wed 1 Oct...

Its amazing how that with modern science and the ability to calculate the timing of the moon, that the public hols seem to be falling either side of the weekends now, as it will now be Wed 1st & Thurs 2nd...
