does it allow you to use walkie-talkies legally? My UK 5 miles range WT got confiscated at AD airport. Where do you get such a licence and how much will it cost approx please ?

I'm not sure, but I doubt it. Probably something to do with it being 'competition' with the local operators.

Plenty for sale if you look under the counter, expect them to be confiscated at border posts If they see them. Forget the license. If you want to talk to anyone else here the UK ones are generally the wrong frequency as most here are us ones

You get a licence through the TRA, we jumped through hoops to get ours for a remote site in Abu Dhabi, look here for a starting point, but it's pretty expensive

You can buy walkie talkies from Dragon Mart, use the american frequency ones, and don't take them through any border posts.

use them only on the sand, and not near military installations. If you are buying them to use in an offroad club, make sure yours are compatible with theirs
