Anyone heard anything similar? |
Re: Racist?
Probably not the schools or teachers being racist, more likely the kids being rude as many white kids here seem to treat Indian or indeed any other children of colour with arrogance and disrespect. Blame the parents.:(

And probably in every single country in the world.
Did you know that all Indian men are rapists? Causes me real problems getting maintenance done as she won't let them in unless they turn up with a pinoy crew. |

My daughter was born and raised in the UK (I'm Irish, Mrs Stig is French) but as soon as the kids learnt she wasn't ethnically British, she was no longer accepted as part of their crowd. Sad really. This was in a very rural area of Wiltshire, not some big city. |

Same back in the UK, I always wondered why my daughter only had friends who were either of colour, or non-English ethnicity. When I spoke with her, she said the "English" kids were not socialising with the (fairly large) minority of kids who were racially different.

Has happened umpteen times. Sad, eh? |

That's probably true but I like to think that the one place I don't see timewarped levels of racism is at my kids schools. They all just get along and don't seem to care at all what colour each of them are. The same with the mums to some degree, everyone gets along pretty well. Then you get to work and it's "we need a white face for this role blah blah blah I mean a proper one, not an Indian with the wrong passport blah blah blah.":banghead:

I know what you mean, happened to my son too. He is white, of scandinavian descent. Some of the kids he sometimes hangs out with here, mostly not white, of different ethniceties, make him, more often than not , understand that he is not welcome/invited because of his not being of colour, being of a different faith, or culture.

Sad indeed. My father (he was very "old school") used to bemoan mixed (mainly black / white) marriages, and say scathingly that pretty soon we'd all end up coffee coloured. To which I'd retort (even as a teenager) "And wouldn't that be a good thing." I'd hapily trade diversity for non-discrimination.
So far that has not happened,IMHO. |
