Probably not the schools or teachers being racist, more likely the kids being rude as many white kids here seem to treat Indian or indeed any other children of colour with arrogance and disrespect. Blame the parents.:(

Perhaps.. but is kinda unfortunate, coz i thought if someone was born / raised in a particular country.. he/she was part of that community.. but anyway, pity!

I take it those specs in the pic of your avatar are rose tinted.

Are you serious...one only has to go back to Britain to see there are plenty of children born there who are not part of the local community even when going to state schools - why would it be any different here?

You know what, yes, those things are happening. And they are happening to kids of ALL colour, by kids of ALL colour, nationality , faith , ethnicity, tribe, name...and so on and so forth.

And probably in every single country in the world.

I say it again. The most racist person in my house is the maid.

Did you know that all Indian men are rapists? Causes me real problems getting maintenance done as she won't let them in unless they turn up with a pinoy crew.

Same back in the UK, I always wondered why my daughter only had friends who were either of colour, or non-English ethnicity. When I spoke with her, she said the "English" kids were not socialising with the (fairly large) minority of kids who were racially different.

My daughter was born and raised in the UK (I'm Irish, Mrs Stig is French) but as soon as the kids learnt she wasn't ethnically British, she was no longer accepted as part of their crowd. Sad really.

This was in a very rural area of Wiltshire, not some big city.

That's probably true but I like to think that the one place I don't see timewarped levels of racism is at my kids schools. They all just get along and don't seem to care at all what colour each of them are. The same with the mums to some degree, everyone gets along pretty well. Then you get to work and it's "we need a white face for this role blah blah blah I mean a proper one, not an Indian with the wrong passport blah blah blah.":banghead:

I know what you mean, happened to my son too. He is white, of scandinavian descent. Some of the kids he sometimes hangs out with here, mostly not white, of different ethniceties, make him, more often than not , understand that he is not welcome/invited because of his not being of colour, being of a different faith, or culture.

Even for me, often I am not invited to some people's house (people I am friendly with) because they prefer their own nationalities. Has happened umpteen times.
Sad, eh?

Yes, I have to agree, it's the same, to an extent at our school. Although some nationalities like to stick to themselves a bit more.

Sad indeed. My father (he was very "old school") used to bemoan mixed (mainly black / white) marriages, and say scathingly that pretty soon we'd all end up coffee coloured. To which I'd retort (even as a teenager) "And wouldn't that be a good thing." I'd hapily trade diversity for non-discrimination.

lol, my gran said similar things....:o,although her thing were the catholics... ;) I'd prefer diversity WITH non discrimination from ALL sides though. As I think it would be the only way to make it work.
So far that has not happened,IMHO.
