Quantity Surveyor looking for advise
Hi,
Recently after 7 years working as a glorified estate agent I decided to go back to uni to get a degree in Construction economics (Quantity Surveying). I have a degree in property economics which ment I could skip the first 4 years in the 6 year part time degree. I have completed year 5 and I am working full time. Problem is I have the financial commitments of someone who has been working for 7 years but the salary of a graduate. I have decided to move to dubai once qualified.
So basically what I need to know is what is the best area of QSing to get into - is it PQS or Main Contractor. I currently work for a Concrete Manufacturer (subbie) which is very speciallised.
Also what can I expect as a salary - I am 32 years of age and have worked in commercial property for the last 10 years in various roles including agency and development appraisal. While my QS expereince is limited I am a quick learner and want to work for a company that would have good opertunities for progression.
Looking for some guideance basically any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
N
