Default Qatar to UAE by car ... anyone?

There is a small group of us interested in driving to Dubai for the first
and second Eid. (23rd-24th October or 30th-31st December). These dates are
not fixed it depends on the moon and feedback from you. Not everyone can
make it for the first day of Eid we are flexible at the moment, please
reply if you are interested and let us know what you want.

If you are interested please return this e-mail with the following
information.

Are you driving: YES/NO If yes, will you take extra passengers YES/NO. What
speed will you expect to drive at? What Date and time can you set off?
Where would you like to meet?

If you or a companion are a mechanic, doctor, nurse, speak or read Arabic
please say so:

Give us a date that suits you:

Have you driven there before or knowledgeable on the requirements?

Do you have contact with anyone whom may give discount for group bookings
at a suitable hotel: YES/NO.

What star hotel would you prefer?

Do you wish to camp out?: YES/NO. If yes one or more nights.

The plan is to drive in groups whom wish to travel at similar speeds and
interests, the slowest group setting off first. Sharing cars for people
whom do not want to go alone and to assist with the costs.
The first car of each group being the team leader will have all the mobile
numbers of the other team leaders and the remaining cars having the mobile
numbers of every car in the group so that no one gets left behind.

Have you any additional information to help us?

Pls forward your respond through e-mail [email protected]

Indeed - driving through the Saudi desert (bearing in mind that if you are planning to drive there before Eid you won't be able to eat or drink either) for countless hours, then driving through the UAE desert for countless hours - seems to have little (actually no) appeal.

Was going to mention not being able to take any booze, but don't know if that would bother many people (I can't camp out without an eski full of beer and a bbq).

Go for it Novi, dont mind these doom and gloom merchants.

My brother has driven it and reckons it was well worth while, Just make sure you have all the right paperwork and you'll be fine

Good luck Novi. From the questions you are asking it sounds like some-one has already put a fair bit of thought into it...

A diary or some pictures of the trip would be good.... Get a wireless card and you could run updated thread on here...
