Bear in mind that your first job in the region doesn't have to be your last. Suck it up for a year. Network. Get a better paying job. It's a well trodden path. Good luck.

Finally honest answers to the most asked question on this forum! 
So many time I've seen young singles being told to turn down 55k a month because it's not worth it
You will be absolutely fine. I have plenty of friends who live on less and have great lives. The teacher community will look after you and your money will stretch further than you think.
