Qatar - RP and Attestation.
 

Hello All,

Might be a unique scenario but hoping someone can help with this.

I have accepted a role and have provided all attested education documents to my future employer to apply for my visa.

Thinking ahead, I am wondering how the process will work for my wife and daughter. My wife is a Kenyan citizen and after we got married she got her Canadian passport. We are both originally from Pakistan which is where we got married and are both Pakistani citizens. We however do not have a Pakistani passport and use our Pakistani ID cards to enter and exit.

I will be moving to Qatar as a Canadian citizen on an overseas contract with my wife and daughter. Thinking 4-6 months down the road, will our marriage certificate need to be attested in Canada or Pakistan for me to apply for her and my daughter's RP? My daughter was born in Canada and also holds a resident card for Pakistan which allows us all to exit and enter Pakistan passport and visa free.

Confusing situation but I am hoping to start the attestation process in Canada now if that is where the marriage certificate will need to be attested. The document is originally from Pakistan.

Can you attest in Canada after you have left?

If not, I would start attesting now and take the chance you may also have to attest for some things in Pakistan.

You will also need to find out about stamps from the Qatar Embassy in Canada. This may be easier to do if you or your family are in the country?

Another thing to look at is Police Clearance or Good Conduct Certificates from Canada as these can be complicated to obtain once you are out of the country.

Finally, expect that you will need far more stamps, stickers and signatures than you ever thought. If you want to keep your original marriage certificate and degree certificates free from this I suggest getting official copies for the legalising, apostiling and attesting...

Will the Canadian government attest a marriage certificate from Pakistan ? I doubt it, so obviously you will need to get it attested by the Pakistan Embassy in Canada and then by the Qatar embassy in Canada.
