Qatar.. Here we come...
So what is this place?????
I have been here for a couple of weeks... it has nice Hotels and restaurant but not too many of them.. it is dry in restaurants but you can drink in Hotels at a high premium, about a fiver a pint...
There seem to be quite a lot of expats.. but for some reason I feel the place is lonely... lonely for singles... too lonely infact..
mind you, I have only been here for two weeks...
I still did not figure out the best places for singles to meet and chat.. if anybody got any ideas and experience.. please share it with the not so knowledgeable ones among us in Doha..

Heya Zooz
Welcome to Doha!!
Well it is really not the best time to be here right now as most of the ppl are away on holiday but u will see the changes in a couple of weeks esp the traffic when everyone starts returning back. Yess its true about the hotel booze being way too exp. A lot of ppl here have parties in eachothers houses. Main thing for u now is to make loads of friends or it can get quiet boring. Not sure about where singles meet as non single myslef but have u tried AMGIOS, its the only licenced pub/restaurant in Doha and everyone says its great. I havent been myself but everyone says its cool. Its somewhere in the West Bay area (close to city centre) where Benninghan (restaurant) is. Where r u working??? Usually colleugues are the first friends u make and maybe they can suggest places for meets.
Hope this can be teeny weeny helpful.

Thank you Malt... makes me feel a lot better.. I am working with QGII gas project in Doha itself, I am not planning to stay single forever as my family are due soon.. and I am sure the fun will start with baby groups and the like.. I suppose I just wanted rubbish some beer talk... rather than going back to your hotel room every nioght for a month ir so..
Cheers for the tip, will give it a go..

Doha can be quiet fun if u have the right friends and u know where to go and ppl are ever so friendly here. I have been here since last November and I can say that I have more friends here then I have back at home. If yr family is soon joining u then u have no problem at all. Doha is a very much family orientated place. U will no doubt have loads of friends cos kids make friends and u will have no choice but to make friends wt the parents haha.
Zooz regardless to what a lot of ppl say about Doha it is a great place to live in. Def not perfect but much better than some fully developed countries in the world. It is still being exploited and some things will make u swear but on the whole its a fun place and u will see that as time goes by.
How old are yr kids and wot school shall they attend (if u dont mind me asking)??

Will pm u the no of a great babysitter I had before I got my live-in maid/nanny (have to find it first hehe). Theres a mother and baby meeting twice a week which can be quite fun. Mummies can make friends wt other mummies whilst the babies play wt loads of toys. Place Ghanem Gardens compound clubhouse right behind 'The Centre'. I have made some good friends there.
Anything else u need to know, shoot

Just an update...
Last night it was a fantastic night .. went out with few blokes from work and started the trail in the Library bar in Ramada hotel.. a bit slow and weired place.. with company it is ok.. you can talk... we had few ..
then we went to the sports bar in Rydges Hotel.. top floor.. and that was GOOD.. very good... there was plenty of expats with a reasonnable feremon balance... just couples and friends having a drink... we had few .. and it was merry,, .. the music was good too.. and not too dated...
Then we hit the road a gain... went to a night club in Mewrwab hotel.. only to be denied entry.. . coz we were all blokes. . I told them me and the bold guy are couples and the two other guys were transvestites backwards... but that did not go down pretty well.. .. so no beer and on the road again...
((to be continued))
