Default Qatar Exir Permit Questions

I am a novice at Qatar permit rules, but have read somewhere about the requirements to have permission to leave:
I have been offered a job in Qatar as a scientist. My employer will arrange all the visas.
My wife and children intend to join me later.
If they have residence permits, do they need to get permission to leave at all? If so, how do they get this if none of them have employers? I will be the only worker.
Thanks for any advice

As far as I am aware your employer gets a multiple re entry visa and and that's it. Our Qatar staff who travel all have them. Our staff who don't travel have to get the sponsors letter of approval to leave.
As Qatar is shite get the multiple re entry visa written into your contract.

Apologies Neil, just seen you are from Yorkshire so Qatar for you will be heaven on earth. Christian crosses are ok but whippets and cloth caps are not

Your wife and children will be on your sponsorship and will only need your permission to leave the country. You on the other hand will need the permission of your employer. I work for the government and need to request a permit every time I want to travel abroad. No one I know has multiple exit permits but that does not mean that some employers will not issue them. Its all hassle and the process is hit and miss depending on how organised your company immigration rep is - ours is a f***wit so we usually get our exit permits issued ten minutes before the taxi arrives for the airport. He is a Qatari, need I say more.

This place is dull, sh**e and boring but you can make a decent living and get away to some interesting places.

State a multiple exit permit as part of the deal , they cost very little and they are vert very handy indeed.

I have one and it takes all the worry about getting out of this place when i need to leave and anyone who lives in Doha will travel alot because there's nothing here to see.

Some companies will only make them available to certain specific managers as they deem that you're going to abscond at the first chance , maybe they just know how shite their own country really is .

If you have a good P.R.O and an efficient admin system it's a straightforward process that should take a couple of hours online , if you don't then you could miss your flight or your holiday and be left waiting at passport control . Ive seen it many times with families getting turned back .

I'm lucky as i work for a Dubai based western managed company who realise the importance of having control of that part of your life . Saying that if your working for a good honest decent outfit then either way it shouldnt be a problem.

The trouble is good , honest and decent are hard to come by here in Qatar

If Yorkshire were still "flat caps, whippets, working mens clubs, strong communities based around manufacturing/heavy industries", then I wouldn't be considering going to Qatar. I'd have been in the same career from leaving school, along with the rest of me mates. Instead, it is post-Thatcher Britain: going from s**t job to s**t job, living among estates where the main occupation is selling stuff on e-bay, and where every house has a flat screen telly as big as the front window.
It may not be such a culture change in Qatar, apart from there being less muslims in Qatar compared to here (Bradford and Dewsbury for example).

Thanks,
I'm here now and will be given a multiple-exit visa I have been told. Can you please explain to me the process of leaving when I have this multiple exit visa? Can I just book a flight, turn up at the airport, and board the plane, or do I still need to get some authorisation from my employer? What has confused me is your paragraph about having to go through some process "online".
Cheers

You will need an exit permit from your Sponsor (employer) to leave the country, even for a short visit. It is an online process that only your Sponsor can access. Once approved, your exit permit is valid for 7 days only.

You need your Sponsor's formal approval for many things, including opening a bank account, taking out a loan, getting a liquor licence, changing employer etc.

Also, if your Sponsor gets fed up of you, he/ she can cancel your Visa/ Residency Permit at will and you then have 7 days to leave the country, along with your family, and a 2-year work ban kicks in.

So be nice to your Sponsor.
