property owned resident visa

I was wondering if anyone on this board has had experience or knows what the formalities are in securing a resident visa once you own a property.

From what i have found out so far, as long the property is valued at more than AED 1m, the owner is eligible for a resident's visa.

Can anyone confirm this and if so how easy/difficult was it to obtain the visa and which government bodies do you have to approach.

Thanks.

Most people here are against property buying. Have you searched? Some estate agents will probably tell you if you ask while looking at property but that does not mean they are being truthful. You could ask a solicitor who does conveyancing and residency or find the correct government dept. I think that Visa is only for 2 years now and is quite expensive.

After the 2008-09 crash and horror stories that were going around, I believe sand castles crumble so be careful and get proper Legal and professional advice. The members here have no 'fiduciary duty' to respond :)

Just did a very quick look up and it does not seem to be as expensive as I thought!

Hi, it's called an Investor Visa and must be renewed every year - as you have said previously the property must be worth more than 1m.

We plan to do this on retirement so please let me know how you get on if you apply for it! :)

There are 2 options; one is a 6 month visa and the other is a 2 year visa. A friend of mine applied for a 2 year visa last year and he said that the entire process is very straightforward.
