Property apocalypse
votes plz.
I did believe there would be one.
i still think there should be one,
But I now reckon that there are enough stupid people around who will swallow just about any story the dubai machine puts out
and they have slowed construction to the point where they may just avoid one altogether.
nb all bets are off if the bombs start raining down on Iran

Re: Property apocalypse
Is there an option for there will be a correction, but it will probably be an oscillation of +/- 20%?

Re: Property apocalypse
I'd have gone for that, or something similar, but as it wasn't on the list I went for 'the sky won't fall'. I don't consider that to be a huge crash. Besides, there are still plenty of people keen to buy - not so much as investments - but as their homes. That changes the market somewhat.

However, they've still got the headache of trying to maintain high property values and rents while attempting to mitigate the negative economic impact of runaway inflation coupled with the weakness of the dirham. Given Dubai's record on forward planning, I really don't have any confidence that they know what they're doing.

Re: Property apocalypse
Enough heavyweight independent analysts were saying that given the (previous) pace of construction, a crash was inevitable, that the government looks to have taken steps to try and stave it off. Simply forcing a slowdown in construction by engineering a labour crisis is crude, but it may be effective.
