I use:

(i) UK Sky Subscription
(ii) 2GB ADSL line
(iii) vee_pee_nnn account (about £6 a month)
(iv) SkyGo service
(v) Laptop connected to TV via HDMI cable.

Works like a charm and as a bonus gets you unrestricted Internet access and no traffic shaping.

As above, though I shall purchase a Mini Mac in the states and run everything through that when I get back here.

I like to watch things live though, But with DBX being 4 hours ahead of UK most things will be on way too late. 3 hours I can live with, ie Topgear starting at 11pm local time here - Match of the day 1230am etc. I also don't have to get out of bed until 9/930...........

Plug laptop into TV and buy wireless keyboard and mouse. Sit on sofa, turn on laptop, turn on Vizzle Pizzle Nizzle, turn on iPlayer, watch.

Sorry mate, I thought you were justifying trying to get Sky over here instead of just doing VizPiz stuff.

For the technologically slowfolk like me.... is this Vizzle Pizzle Nizzle thing banned or something? Why is it spoken about in code? If it lets me watch the Atomic Kitten, 911, Five, Bewitched reunion on ITV2 this Thursday, is it easy to acquire a Very Porous Nose?

I don't know why people insist on using "code" (if it can be dignified with that term!) for describing VPNs. The authorities here know they exist, that's why the websites for the good ones are blocked and have been for years (unless you've already got one of course, in which case you can access them no problem).

Of course the authorities know they exist and we all know that, too. That's why they're not mentioned directly - especially as some well-meaning respondants occasionally mention the name of one which may have been happily used by many for ages only to find that within a week or so it has been blocked (this especially refers to those which are accessed for free).
