Just waiting for visa to come through, when I buy the ticket does it have to be a return will the Saudi immigration get twitchy at Riyadh if I just have a single?

Hi there,

Not that I am aware of. I have come here twice and never been asked re my ticket. You have to fill in a breif landing card, but there is not much to it.

I have not been asked anything by the customs guards as I believe all of the info they need is contained on the visa in your passport. It just gets stamped and off you go.

two year visa, not sure when I'll be coming back at this stage other than for a holiday

if Saudi is like Dubai you are better off keeping the return ticket from the UK, it's cheaper than buying at this end.

Buy a ticket that is valid for a year - believe me, you will use it!!

It's not necessary - I've flown into Riyadh repeatedly without a return ticket.

Also, bmi have had very cheap tickets originating in Riyadh in the past.

But given the usual price difference between singles and returns and the current exchange rate, it's hard to disagree with the sentiment above. Buy the flex return.

As an aside, I have heard that you can get some great bargains around certain events, like Haj, where many planes are arriving full and going back empty. Can anyone confirm this?
