Phone Scam
Not that anyone on here would be stupid enough to fall for it, but I just received two calls from +971562342762 saying they are Etisalat and asking me to call back the same number to claim 200,000dh.
The poor spoken English of the bloke calling is a bit of a giveaway.

Same thing, different number. I told our office security guy who told his mate in the police who investigated the number....

I am a bit slow this morning, you call them back and what? What's the scam exactly, they ask for bank details or something?

Unlucky for you, you cynical person, I called the number and gave all my account details, I am expecting a deposit any day now.

Yeah- it was Etisalat. They delivered my new car 3 days after the 200,000 deposit. Oh yeah, it wasn't Dirhams, it was Euros.

They call, tell you that you've won, ask for your phone details & SIM card details to "confirm you have won", then they ask for your bank details to "make the deposit", oh and could you just confirm your identity by giving your full name, date of birth and mother's maiden name?
How do I know? Cos I was bored one day and gave them false details all the way through just to find out... :shrug: I was bored.
