Petrol Money Scam

I was walking past Dubai Tennis Stadium/Irish Village this afternoon when I was stopped by a bloke in a vehicle asking for petrol/food money to get to Oman. I presumed it was a Ramadan begging scam and kept walking, but if anybody sees a starving man in red and white headgear with his young daughter, stood by a white 4WD with a Saudi plate that has run out of fuel somewhere in the Sharjah desert, please give him my apologies.

You won't.. Its the Ramadan version of the Salvation Army can-rattlers at Christmas, without the official sanction..

Begging without the need to dress up like an untermenschen....

Norm, this wasnt the "I have all'a these suits and need to sell them cheap before I fly back to Italy" scam...

This is the "Im a poor Gulf Arab (usually in a brand new Landcruiser) who only wants to get home" scam..
