Passport validity for entry to UAE?

Passport validity for entry to UAE?
I have tried to get this infro from DNRD website, but it is written in the worst English ever and no answer on the telephone number.
If you have a residence visa, do you still require 6 months validity on your passport to enter the UAE?

No, as long as the residence permit is valid for longer than 6 months.

no disapointment - am new to the UAE and working in Abu Dhabi - NBAD, see loads of hotties around looking at me like ive got something drawn on my face, but I cannot approach them.
